Welcome to Merseyside BME Legacy Project
The Legacy Project aims to ensure that Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) voluntary, community and faith (VCF) sector organisations on Merseyside have access to and benefit from the best infrastructure support services.
The project will offer dedicated support to a range of front line groups by enabling them meet their needs, address gaps and link them with support services that will leave a sustainable legacy for the sector. In using the term BME, this project recognises and includes new communities, refugees and asylum communities as primary beneficiaries and key stakeholders.
A Partnership Project
Legacy is primarily funded by the Big Lottery fund and is a collaborative Project led by Chara Trust in partnership with Refugee Action on Merseyside and Council for Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations (CEMVO). It is also supported by the Greater Merseyside Change Up Consortium.
Towards Long Term Benefits
Legacy aims to stimulate a step-change in the involvement, engagement and contribution of BME voluntary community and faith sector on Merseyside in the design and delivery of support services.
The project will deliver sustainable benefits largely through the development of new relationships and new approaches to working that will become embedded in the working methods employed by both BME and VCF infrastructure organisations. In addition, the sharing of knowledge and expertise will deliver long-term benefits in terms of improving skills levels and developing mutual support networks.
